Land’s Raider Class Battle Tank(s), MkIIb Variant

The legions made extensive use of Land’s formidable mainline battle tank, favoured by all of the Astartes. By the outbreak of the heresy several chassis variants and patterns of the ubiquitous warmachine, the rout favouring the MkIIb variant for it’s refined design and the powerful phobos pattern assault ramp.

MkIIb ‘Phobos’ Pattern Raider Battle Tank

A ground assault boat, blunt in its application, the Phobos pattern Raider Tank is designed to protect it’s cargo of assault warriors in the most brutal of warzones. Favoured by the Jarls of Fenris for it’s ferocity, more than one Phobos has been garbed in the Morkai’s black shroud and enlisted to deliver those Deathsworn brothers into the heart of battle.

MkIIb ‘Proteus’ Pattern Raider Battle Tank

A rarely seen variant of the Raider Battle Tank, with the proteus configuration more commonly associated with the MkI chassis and the MkII chassis more commonly sporting the Phobos Assault Ramp. The MkIIb ‘Proteus’ does however see battle under the banner of the 6th Legion, a heavily armed and armoured tanks with a transport capacity. Used my squads and thegns to deliver kill teams, seeker squads and hunters to key objectives.

MkIIa Proteus Pattern Raider Tank WIP 03

Progress continues on the MkIIa Proteus Pattern Land Raider, with tracks added that are more befitting of Heresy Era tanks.

The tracks were procured from http://extra-armour.com/product/onslaught-tracks/ and are listed as ‘onslaught’ tracks, which are designed for the plastic land raider kit. The quality of these resin tracks is superb and all the required detail cut outs and links are carefully considered to make this a very straight forward addition to the standard plastic kit, well worth the price.

In order to fit the tracks, which were a late design decision the older tracks were carefully cut out, some collateral damage has occurred, but this will be made good prior to painting.

Mastodon Super-Heavy Assault Transport WIP 01

A twist or fate, crossing palms with silver and making innocent pacts with the Warmaster’s forces has seen the Vlka Fenryka’s assault fire power increase. This Mastodon has seen war before, in the colours of the Sons of Horus, please do check out @fortunatesonofhorus on instagram.

The super-heavy warmachine has had its iconography removed, imperfections sanded, panels re-aligned and has been primed ready for its new lease of life.

The latter picture above shows the disassembled Mastodon, still in its Sons of Horus livery prior to work.

Forge World’s Book VII Inferno contains some beautiful photography/artwork of the Mastodon in action on Prospero.

Vlka Fenryka 6000pts

Time seems to have passed at a such a considerable rate since this project was begun in April of 2016, so much so that a ‘whole army’ picture has failed to happen. So having broken the 6000pts threshold (6081pts to be exact) the warriors of the Rout have been assembled!

MkIIa Proteus Pattern Raider Tank WIP 02

The achilles front plate and the plasticard trim have been smoothed in with some greenstuff and the hull mounted heavy bolter has been swapped out for a twin-linked lascannon. The lascannons were sourced from the sponsons of the Sicaran.

This land raider will be a dedicated transport for the seeker squad.

Deimos Pattern Predator ‘Medium’ Tank

Predator Tank, Deimos Pattern, armed with a Predator class Autocannon, which offers a greater rate of fire than it’s more ubiquitous name-sake. The Predator is employed by the Vlka Fenryka primarily in fire support role, harrying enemy light armour and infantry, leaving the dedicated tank engagements to its Sicaran kin.

The Predator is a highly effective medium tank designed to provide Astartes Legions with heavy fire support in the heat of battle. Whilst several patterns of Predator saw battle during the Great Crusade and latter Horus Heresy the Deimos Pattern was by far the most common.
