10,000 Points!!

While the army development has been almost exclusively honed around the narrative of the overall force, building claws and unit configurations to represent an interpretation of the lore and background, the opportuinity to celebrate 10,000 points was too good an oportunity to pass up.

Legion Praevian & Vorax

Within the sixth legion the Priests of Fenris stand apart from their warrior brothers, under their mantle lie many specialists and disciplines, hierarchies and orders of vared skill and unique application. Some are keepers of the Rout’s spirituality, some gene-weavers and flesh-makers, others are techno-savants, adepts of the machine and keepers of the Legion’s armouries and wargear. These latter priests are the Priests of Iron, scions of the machine and mirror of other legion’s tech-marines.

A sub-sect of the Priests of Iron are the beast-keepers, warrior adepts that control inducted machines of Mechanicum, known among other legions as Praevians, they walk to war in the company of battle-automata and wreak bloody havoc on the enemies of mankind.

Favoured automata among the Priests of Iron are the Vorax class war-machines, developed for clearing the under-hives and culling the populous of indentured work forces on Mechanicum controlled worlds, their savagery and design for ruthless combat makes them ideal companions to the warriors of the Vlka Fenryka.

When inducting such battle-automata into the legion, the Priests of Iron do so by sacred ritual. Daubed in blood and under the light of the waxing moon, the Priests of Iron slit the throat of adolescent Saeneyti, native to the slopes of Asaheim, binding it’s spirit to the machine and bonding it with the soul of Fenris. The death of beast is significant, for only with sacrifice can life be created. The skull and hide of the Saeneyti is cleaned with sacred balms and mounted upon the battle-automata, giving the machine a shadow of its former life.

Legion Praevian & Vorax WIP

Looking to explore the myriad forms of Fenrisian Priests, beyond that of Caster of Runes and Speaker of the Dead, attention has been turned to the Priests of Iron, of which several are planned. The first to find form is the Praevian, a master of automata:

This model used the Legion Praevian as a base, spliced with parts from the Grey Slayer Kit and a plastic MkIII leg (to match the mkIII bionic). The raven skulls are from the Games Workshop Skulls Box (such a good converting aid).

To accompany the Praevian, Vorax have been chosen, perhaps not as tactical as the Castellax option, but more beastial and befitting of the Wolves.

The idea behind these creations is that the Priests of Iron sacrifice a Fenrisian animal to give the machines animus, binding their souls to Fenris and awakening them firmly in the service of the Rout. The skull, fur and hide is then draped over the automata like a headdress.
